Munir Hossn

Born in Paraná, Brazil, Munir Hossn is a bassist, composer, and arranger whose influence and inspiration derives heavily from his interest in the Indian-Brazilian influences from Paraná, the African-Brazilian influences of Bahia, where he was raised, and many other musical languages. Hossn has toured and performed in Cuba, France, India, Venezuela, Germany, and Morocco and has worked with musicians such as Alex Acuña, Javier Ruibal, and the Zawinul Syndicate. Hossn also leads his own projects—most notably, Pedra Preta, a trio formed with Swiss musicians Toni Schiavano and Flo Reichle, as well as Iyexá, an African-Brazilian group formed in Barcelona.
