Gareth Flowers is a trumpeter originally from Arlington, Virginia, and has been based in New York City since 2000. After studies at the Juilliard School with foci on performance and music technology, he began performing with the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), earning a reputation in contemporary music which has garnered critical acclaim from the New York Times. He has recorded for Philip Glass, John Adams, John Zorn, David Byrne, Anthony Braxton, DuYun, Anthony Coleman, and many other unique musicians. ICE’s recording of Matthias Pintscher’s Sonic Eclipse is particularly notable. His most recent solo project is titled A Beginner’s Guide to Lucid Dreaming. It received accolades within the cassette tape community, including FACTMag’s ‘best of 2013’ list.
