The Gesualdo Six

Lux Aeterna
Saturday, February 17, 2024, 8PM
Church of St. Mary the Virgin

Renowned as “weavers of rich and plangent aural tapestries” (BBC Music Magazine), The Gesualdo Six returns with a program of poignant and uplifting music commemorating the departed. Through a thoughtfully curated selection of works spanning from the Renaissance to the present day, the a cappella ensemble explores the rich variety of musical responses to the themes of mourning, loss, and hope over centuries. The repertoire features compositions by Tavener, Byrd, Tallis, Purcell, and de Morales alongside contemporary works, including Joanna Marsh’s I take thee, which was composed for The Gesualdo Six in 2020.
