Composer Portraits

Amy Williams

Thursday, February 22, 2024, 8PM
Miller Theatre at Columbia University

The music of Amy Williams embodies a vivid soundworld with ever-changing textures that beguile the ear. The astonishing composer, who is equally as accomplished as a pianist, joins the intrepid JACK Quartet to perform a selection of her works. The program includes Richter Textures, inspired by the paintings of visual artist Gerhard Richter. The San Francisco Chronicle declares, “In a just world, Richter Textures would find its way into the repertoire of every comparable ensemble.”
