Han Beyli

Born and raised in Kharkiv, Ukraine, to parents of Azerbaijani descent, Han Beyli started on guitar at age seven and picked up bass at fourteen, drawn in by his older brother, a drummer who soon invited him to join his band. He also trained under a Mugham master, absorbing the deeply improvisational tradition of Azerbaijani folk music alongside influences like John Patitucci, Richard Bona, Victor Wooten, and Steve Bailey. He moved to Boston in 2015 to study at Berklee College of Music, graduating in 2019, and along the way shared stages with heavyweights like Jack DeJohnette, John Medeski, and David Fiuczynski’s Screaming Headless Torsos. As a bassist, singer, and composer, his music glides across ethnic, jazz, world, and R&B influences, tied together by intricate rhythms and improvisation.
