Miller Theatre presents the 14th annual Morningside Lights
MORNINGSIDE LIGHTS
"TIMEFRAME 1965"
Saturday, September 20, 2025, 8PM
The beloved neighborhood tradition returns to illuminate the night in a procession of awe-inspiring lanterns through Morningside Park to Columbia's campus
This year's theme, TIMEFRAME 1965, is inspired by the images, icons, and influences of the year 1965. That transformative year—also the year Columbia University's School of the Arts was founded—sparked a wave of experimentation and social consciousness that still fuels contemporary life and art-making.
Free lantern-building workshops will be hosted daily at Miller Theatre. Workshops are geared toward adults and teens, but children ages 10 and up are welcome if working with a participating adult. Workshop registration opens on Wednesday, September 3.
Concept and direction by PROCESSIONAL ARTS WORKSHOP
Alex Kahn and Sophia Michahelles, artistic directors
Co-produced by the Arts Initiative and Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts. Presented in collaboration with the Friends of Morningside Park.
