New York Times Fall Preview highlights the Composer Portrait of Helmut Lachenmann
One of the classical music highlights of the season is Miller Theatre's Composer Portrait of Helmut Lachenmann on October 9. David Allen, writing in The New York Times, calls it “an infuriatingly rare opportunity to grapple with the fractured, exploratory music of Helmut Lachenmann, who turns 90 in November and is one of the most influential composers of the past five decades.”
He adds that the Portrait also offers the chance to hear the "indispensable JACK Quartet" perform all three of Lachenmann's string quartets.
