New York Times Fall Preview highlights events at Miller Theatre
The New York Times music critic David Allen names Miller Theatre concerts among the highlights of the fall classical season.
Allen opens with violinist Jennifer Koh's Sept. 24 performance of Bach's complete sonatas and partitas, calling it a "major undertaking." Among early music highlights, he points to Stile Antico's Oct. 15 program at Church of St. Mary the Virgin, which pairs Renaissance polyphony with a Christopher Cerrone premiere, and The Gesualdo Six's Nov. 12 concert exploring music for Compline. Allen also flags Miller's Composer Portraits series, opening Oct. 29 with a focus on Suzanne Farrin and her new opera "Macabéa," noting that contemporary composers remain central to Miller's programming.
