Onstage discussion with Leon Kirchner Miller Theatre honors New York native Leon Kirchner (b. 1919), who at 90 remains a composer of vigorous and poetic music. He is a performer’s composer, championed by some of the world’s finest musicians, many of whom are personally joining in the celebration. This Portrait features works written over a span of fifty years, including both his seminal double concerto and recent and early chamber music. Read this concert's program notes by Paul Griffiths.
