Michael Olivera is a drummer from Santa Clara, Cuba who studied at the National School of Art in Havana. In 2016, Olivera released his debut album Ashé to critical acclaim, followed by Oasis in 2017. Both albums exhibit an acute sensitivity to his Cuban background while also incorporating elements from the jazz tradition. Olivera frequently collaborates with notable artists including Quincy Jones, Rick Wakeman, Javier Colina, Sting, Tomatito, Yonathan Avishai, and Síntesis. He is featured on over fifty records and has played in hundreds of projects all over the world.
