Now in its 17th year, the Harlem Book Fair is the nation’s largest and most-respected African American literary festival. HBF 2015 launches with author discussions at the Upper West Side Barnes & Noble on Tuesday, July 14 through Thursday, July 16. The annual Wheatley Book Awards will be held on Friday, July 17th, at Columbia University's Miller Theater, featuring award-winning poet and essayist, Nikki Giovanni and children's book illustrator and 2010 Caldecott Award winner, Jerry Pinkney.
Saturday, July 18th, the book festival on West 135th Street at Lenox Avenue features a vibrant outdoor book market and is televised live on C-SPAN’s BookTV. While there, take the Tour of Literary Harlem with City Sightseeing New York. On July 19th The Hotel Beacon serves as venue for the HBF Author Brunch, hosted by writer and actress Tanya Wright of Orange is the New Black.
