The Cornell Wind Symphony under the direction of James Spinazzola presents a concert featuring wind music influenced by jazz. The program includes new transcriptions of jazz standards - Duke Ellington’s Concerto for Cootie, and John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme - and concert works influenced by jazz: John Berners’s The Late, Late Movie on Channel 88, and David Maslanka’s Fourth Symphony. Cornell director of jazz studies Paul Merrill will also be on hand with the CU Jazz Band rhythm section. Presented as part of the Composers Now festival: http://www.composersnow.org.
