Onstage discussion with Jefferson Friedman
At the age of 34, Jefferson Friedman (b. 1974) has already established himself with an impressive array of compositional styles, creating music of intense emotion, frenetic energy, and funky rhythms. This Portrait explores his varying range, from wild arrangements of songs by the rock band Crom Tech to a world premiere performance by Craig Wedren, former singer of Shudder To Think.

Read this concert's program notes by Paul Griffiths.

Not enough? Catch a repeat performance of On in Love at (Le) Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker St.) the next night, February 13 at 8:00PM as part of the Wordless Music Series. The concert also includes Craig Wedren performing John Cage’s Aria; ACME performing Louis Andriessen’s Workers’ Union and the world premiere of the electric version of Friedman’s 78 for flute, clarinet, piano, violin, and cello; plus Craig Wedren performing original music in a solo chamber set. Purchase tickets to both Miller's Composer Portrait on February 12 and (Le) Poisson Rouge's concert on February 13 and save $5. Enter code LPR13 to order the combo ticket.

Major support for the Composer Portraits series is provided by the Francis Goelet Charitable Lead Trust. Additional support is provided by The Aaron Copland Fund for Music.
