Onstage and Panel Discussions: In conjunction with several Composer Portrait concerts and other special interdisciplinary events, Miller hosts conversations and panels about its innovative programs. In the 2012-2013 season, check out onstage discussions with composers Olga Neuwirth, Enno Poppe, Rebecca Saunders, and Julio Estrada, in addition to other events.
Campus Performers Partnership supports CU student performing arts groups by providing performance space, production assistance, and marketing services. These partnerships help to promote young artist development, foster interdepartmental collaboration, and share Columbia University's artistic talents with a broader audience.
Commissioned Program Notes: To enhance the concert-going experience and educate audiences, Miller Theatre commissions program notes tailored specially for its one-of-a-kind concerts and events. Renowned music critic Paul Griffiths, other scholars, and artists writes note for each of this season's events; these notes are available online.
Classroom Interaction: Miller Theatre's commitment to educating future audiences extends beyond the stage to the classroom as Miller brings featured artists and musicians directly to the students. In master classes, demonstrations, performances, listening sessions, and other unique collaborations, Columbia and local public and private school students interact with professional artists, increasing awareness of classical music and its benefits.
