Early Music Vox Vocal Ensemble; George Steel, conductor; Tallis - Lamentations of Jeremiah I & II Byrd - Lamentations of Jeremiah White - Lamentations of Jeremiah (à 6) Mundy - De Lamentatione Jeremiae prophetae Parsley - Lamentations of Jeremiah THIS EVENT HAS ALREADY OCCURED IN A PREVIOUS SEASON! Among the greatest treasures of English music are a handful of settings from the 16th century of Holy Week texts drawn from the Lamentations of Jeremiah. These moving and masterful settings mark the high points in the careers of Thomas Tallis, Robert White, and Osbert Parsley. For this concert, Vox Vocal Ensemble has commissioned new reconstructions of White's 6-voice set and the little-known setting by John Mundy. These works include some of the most exquisite and melancholic music of the Renaissance. photo by Alex Coulter |
